Body Parts

It is important to teach children body parts. It helps them to understand their body and forms an important basis for them to show or tell you where they might feel uncomfortable in future!

Receptive Body Parts
In order to teach this skills, you can get the child to receptively identify body parts on themselves (i.e. “touch your nose”; “where is your head?”), receptively identify body parts on others (i.e. with a doll or the instructor – “where’s my ear?”; “where the doll’s leg?”) and/or receptively identify body parts through pictures!

Expressive Body Parts
Apart from teaching body parts receptively, this skill can also be taught expressively through the same means. Labelling their own body part (i.e. “what’s this” while pointing to the child’s nose), labelling body parts on others (i.e. what’s this? while pointing to the doll’s hair or the instructors own hand), and/or labelling the body part through pictures.

Lastly, you can maintain the skill through simple worksheets.

As the Covid-19 cases around the globe increases, the number of institutions/ schools migrating to remote learning has followed suit. Based on comments from some of my friends, it is difficult to find suitable worksheets for their students quickly. Please find some worksheets based on body parts which you can utilise with your students.

The worksheets comprise of the following:
– 1 x Identical Matching Body Part Picture to Picture (2D:2D)
– 1 x Matching Body Part to the Word
– 1 x Identifying and Copying the Word on the Body Part

Examples of the Three Worksheets you can find in the Body Part Worksheet Packet.
